Eighth grade football
The Greene County eighth grade football team finished its season with a 6-0 win over the Nevada Cubs in Grand Junction on Oct. 15.
Although this was a low scoring game, it was a very intense and exciting game, coach Chad Morton said. The Rams scored their only touchdown in the 4th quarter, with a 35 yard touchdown run from Colby Kafer.
With only 3:30 to go in the game, Nevada made a pass play that got them down to the Rams’ twelve yard line. On their fourth down, the Cubs were able to make it to the two yard line for a first down. This gave the Cubs a first and 10 at the two yard line. The Ram defense held the Cubs out of the end zone on four downs. These were the biggest eight downs of the season, allowing the Rams to capture a victory and remain undefeated on the season. “This game proved that defense truly does win games,” Morton said. “Congratulations to the eighth grade Ram football team for going undefeated two seasons in a row!”
